Mladá Boleslav, 29 October 2014 – The ŠKODA Octavia is now also available as a hatchback with all-wheel drive. The new ŠKODA Octavia 4×4 hatchback combines the high practicality of an all-wheel-drive vehicle with the proven Octavia qualities. One petrol and three diesel engines are available. With the Octavia 4x4, the current Octavia series grows to seven variants, three of which have all-wheel drive. At the same time, ŠKODA is expanding its attractive 4x4 range to a total of seven vehicles.
"With the ŠKODA Octavia 4×4, we are expanding our most important model range with an attractive variant and are proving our high level of competency in all-wheel-drive vehicles once more," says ŠKODA Board Member for Sales and Marketing Werner Eichhorn.

The handling of the ŠKODA Octavia 4x4 is impressive – whether it is asphalt, gradients, challenging terrain or tricky situations. All of this is made possible by fifth-generation Haldex clutch based all-wheel-drive technology in combination with powerful engines and a chassis which has been adjusted for comfort.

The ŠKODA Octavia 4x4 is fitted with an electronic differential lock (EDL) as standard. The rear axle has an innovative multi-link suspension with one longitudinal and three transverse links per wheel and an anti-roll bar. Finely-tuned interaction between these technologies ensures best handling, excellent pulling away characteristics, very good acceleration and maximum towing capacity.

At the same time, this youngest member of the Octavia family features the same outstanding product qualities the front-wheel-drive ŠKODA Octavia offers: it is luxuriously spacious and highly functional, comes with many ‘Simply Clever’ ideas, features innovative safety and comfort systems and has low fuel consumption and a dynamic and elegant design.

Haldex 5 all-wheel-drive technology, high-performance engines, excellent handling

The drive system on the ŠKODA Octavia 4×4 is one of the most modern and efficient all-wheel-drive technologies. Via the control unit of the Haldex 5 clutch, the all-wheel-drive system is programmed to deliver the torque mainly to the front axle in normal driving conditions and with a light load. If necessary, the rear wheels are smoothly activated within fractions of a second, so fast that loss of traction is almost impossible.

The new ŠKODA Octavia 4x4 also impresses with its excellent towing capacity. The vehicle will tow up to two tonnes (2.0 TDI with 110 kW (150 PS)).

A total of four engines are available for the hatchback and estate models: three turbo diesel engines and one turbo petrol engine.

The 1.6 TDI Green tec with 77 kW (105 PS) has a combined fuel consumption in the Octavia 4×4 of just 4.5 l/100 km. CO2 emissions are 119 g/km. With the entry-level engine, the Octavia 4×4 accelerates to 100 km/h in 11.5 seconds, and its top speed is 191 km/h.

The 2.0 TDI Green tec with 110 kW (150 PS) consumes 4.7 l diesel per 100 km and emits 122 g of CO2 per km. Top speed is 215 km/h. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 8.6 seconds.

The 135 kW version of the 2.0 TDI Green tec consumes 4.9 l per 100 km. CO2 emissions are 129 g/km. The engine accelerates the Octavia 4x4 from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. The top speed is 228 km/h.

The 1.8 TSI Green tec with 132 kW (180 PS) is exclusively available with automatic six-speed DSG transmission. The combined consumption is 6.7 l/100 km with CO2 emissions of 154 g/km. The Octavia 4×4 with this engine is capable of a top speed of 229 km/h. It will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds.

With the new Octavia 4x4 hatchback, the ŠKODA 4x4 model range now consists of seven vehicles: the ŠKODA Octavia 4×4, ŠKODA Octavia Combi 4×4, ŠKODA Octavia Scout, ŠKODA Yeti 4×4 and ŠKODA Yeti Outdoor 4×4, as well as the ŠKODA Superb 4×4 and ŠKODA Superb Combi 4×4. This means that in the compact and mid-class segment, ŠKODA has the newest and broadest 4x4 range in Europe
